Bella Visits!

On Wednesday we were lucky enough to have Charlie's puppy Bella come and visit us. We were able to practice our questioning to find our lots of information about Bella. We learnt that she is just 8 weeks old. Charlie's family got Bella from some family friends in Nelson. All the rest of Bella's brothers and sisters have gone to Dunedin. We all thought that we would like to take her home!

ICT Headshots

In ICT we have been learning to take head shots using the digital camera. We decided that to take a good photograph that:

- The person was in the middle of the photograph
- The photo showed just their head and shoulders
- The photograph was clear.

We learnt that to take a photograph of just their head and shoulders we could either move closer or use the zoom function. Check out our animoto slide show to see our photographs. Sorry all the photos wouldn't fit onto one animoto presentation.

Room 12 Class Charter

Here is our Class Charter that we have developed

Busy Bodies

This term for inquiry we are learning about our 'busy bodies'. We had fun drawing around Brook and labeling the different parts of the body that we know. As part of the next step of our inquiry model, the acquiring stage, we have created a list of questions we would like to find answers too. We have made sure that our questions start with one of the 7 servants like 'who', 'what', 'where' or 'when'. So far we have watched a movie from Suzy's world on skeletons and Theo has brought in his amazing book on the body. This week we are singing a fun song from Harold from Life Educations Trust Website called the Boddy Oddy song. On here is also the link for the "Who am I?" posters that we made last week as part of ICT.

Bumpity Bus

Here are those of us who don't go to choir performing our poem of the week. Enjoy!

Special Visitors

Today we had some special visitors from NMIT. 5 adult students from Laos and Vietnam who are studying English and New Zealand culture came and visited us. They taught us some songs and how to say Hello in their language. We then sung them some songs and we were very surprised when they knew and joined in with the song in Maori. They said that we were very lucky to go to school here because if we lived in their country there would be 60 students in our class!

Swimming

For P.E. this term we are swimming. Some of us are learning to become more confident in water and have been practicing putting our heads under the water, floating and blowing bubbles. Some of us have been practicing our freestyle along with floating and gliding on our backs.

Our Big Buddies!

On Friday we had our first buddy time. Our big buddies are year 3/4 students from Room 6. We meet up with them on Friday afternoons and do fun things like play sport and make crafts. For some of our buddies it is the first time that they are the 'big' buddy so they were quite excited! Check out the photos below of us with our big

Statistics!

Today in Maths we sorted and grouped our hats as part of our topic on Statistics. We sorted them into lots of different ways. We put them into groups and saw which ones were big and small. There were lots of big hats, one middle size hat and three small hats. We also sorted them into colours.
